This Eradan build for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North™ - Legacy Edition treats the Ranger as the fellowship’s ranged priority controller. The goal is to remove archers, sorcerers, sappers, and exposed targets without leaving the party unable to recover. Meet the requirements for armor you will actually wear, then emphasize the attribute and skills that make deliberate bow attacks reliable.
Establish the ranged-control win condition
Enter each fight looking past the nearest melee enemy. The build succeeds when a dangerous distant target stops acting before it disrupts healing, a revive, or the front line. Stand near enough that Andriel and Farin remain reachable, but offset the camera so the bow has a clear lane. Relocate as enemies close instead of forcing another shot through an incoming attack.
Use headshots when the target and timing make them safe. They improve the value of precise play and count toward Keen-eyed Marksman. Do not chase the achievement at the cost of repeated downs; practice on isolated targets, then confirm progress through Gameplay Stats after a known set of kills.
A build test should record shots needed for the priority enemy, damage taken while aiming, whether a companion falls during the sequence, and the resource left for the next wave. Those observations reveal more than a single large damage number.
Allocate attributes from reachable gear outward
The practical baseline reported by a current AppID 2523770 completion route is to add enough Stamina for chosen armor, then invest strongly in Dexterity. Apply that logic to inventory you possess. Count the exact requirement on a useful armor piece, reach it if the piece will remain relevant, and stop chasing Stamina merely because another random item has a higher threshold.
Dexterity then supports the Ranger’s ranged purpose. Continue while it makes bow pressure more dependable and the build survives ordinary mistakes. If Eradan repeatedly falls before a safe reposition, examine armor, movement, and skill timing before assuming another offensive point will solve it.
Revisit the allocation at a new difficulty or major equipment tier. This guide does not claim a mandatory final number because the public Legacy Edition build has no semantic version label and loot context varies. The current character screen and item requirements decide the exact point.
Assemble skills around four combat moments
Inspect Evasion as the movement and survival layer. Inspect Ranger Strike as a focused answer when sword range is unavoidable. Inspect Smoke and Flame for space control, and Heavy Shot for deliberate ranged punishment. These are current-community recommendations for Legacy Edition; read the live descriptions, prerequisites, ranks, and costs before spending.
The package should cover opening, repeatable pressure, close contact, and escape. If two skills solve the same easy moment while neither helps when Eradan is surrounded, delay one and strengthen the missing response. Do not unlock an attractive top-tier skill by spending through ranks that contribute nothing to the current chapter without understanding the trade.
Practice each active separately. Observe startup, recovery, target selection, and resource use. A skill that looks strong in the menu may expose Eradan long enough for an archer to interrupt the next action. Reserve longer commitments for staggered or isolated enemies.
Choose bow, sword, armor, and elf-stones together
Test bows against the same enemy type near a checkpoint. Compare how many clean shots are needed, how quickly the firing sequence completes, whether the weapon’s requirement forces an unwanted attribute detour, and whether its bonus supports the ranged job. Keep the older bow until the replacement proves useful in play.
The sword is a recovery tool as well as damage. Favor a setup that lets Eradan create room or finish a weakened attacker without being locked into an unsafe sequence. It does not need to imitate Farin’s front-line output. Armor should let the Ranger survive an imperfect dodge while preserving the attribute plan.
Match elf-stones to a proven constraint. Improve ranged pressure when distant enemies remain active too long; improve safety or resource consistency when those limits end attempts. Avoid placing a valuable stone into a temporary item unless the current interface clearly shows how removal or replacement works.
Pilot the build through Fornost
Fornost offers a useful early test. At Main Gate, use Eradan’s trail interaction to explore the right-side room and watch how the build handles close enemies after an investigative pause. On the Battlements, ranged threats and war-machine lanes test target selection. The sorcerer tied to the first Cult of the Lidless Eye scroll provides another clear priority target.
At Outer Wards, branching movement tests whether Eradan can stay with the fellowship while checking optional space. During the Tharzog sequence, avoid turning the build into a stationary firing exercise. Read attacks, preserve an exit route, and switch heroes in solo play if healing or durable close control becomes the more urgent job.
After the chapter, review equipment for all three heroes. A successful Eradan setup should not leave Andriel and Farin wearing unusable leftovers. Keep the party able to support the Ranger’s next firing position.
Diagnose the build by its failure pattern
If Eradan dies while aiming, shorten volleys and improve position before adding damage. If targets survive just long enough to interrupt companions, test bow, Dexterity, and a focused ranged skill one at a time. If resources disappear early, reserve high-cost actions for priority targets. If melee enemies always reach him, improve the escape response or let Farin establish contact first.
If the build works solo but fails online, check role coordination and network conditions before reallocating. Another player may pull enemies away from the firing lane or require more explicit target calls. Use “rear sorcerer” or “left archer,” and decide who revives before the room becomes chaotic.
Return to the Eradan guide for broader hero technique, or the Weapons guide when the bow comparison is the limiting decision. Recheck all skill text inside AppID 2523770 after a build update; old AppID 32800 tables are not authoritative for the Legacy Edition executable.
