Side quests in Legacy Edition are easiest to manage as hub-to-field-to-hub contracts. Accept the task before traveling, protect its named item during the chapter, and return through the correct dialogue before a story transition closes access. The current completion route uses fifteen completed quests for Friend of the Woodland Realm, so confirm finished log states rather than counting conversations.
Bree
Forewarned is Forearmed, Rowlie's Gift, and Otto's Arsenal establish the accept–collect–return rhythm.
Sarn Ford
Take Silanna's Athelas request before Barrow-downs and return the plant after the route.
Rivendell
Handle Seer's Words, The Poet, Miruvor, and Truesilver during the appropriate return visits.
Mirkwood
Rescue Glorihirin at the hidden camp and speak again after completion to close the sequence.
Establish the quest ledger in Bree
Speak to Otto Aster for Forewarned is Forearmed, complete the merchant conversation it requests, and return. Rowlie’s Gift moves a locket through the appropriate Bree residents before returning to Rowlie. Otto’s Arsenal then rewards bringing spare melee weapons, ranged weapons, or shields rather than selling all surplus immediately.
Tedder Hedgerow’s riddles provide silver but do not appear as a normal side quest in the older detailed walkthrough. Treat that interaction separately from the fifteen completed-quest counter. Answer during the available one-shot conversation if you want the maximum early reward.
Before selecting Fornost, open the log and distinguish accepted, advanced, and completed entries. A quest title present in the list is not proof of completion.
Link Sarn Ford to the Barrow-downs
At Sarn Ford, speak to Silanna and accept the Athelas task before entering Barrow-downs. Collect the identified plant on the early left side of the route and verify the pickup. Return it to Silanna after the Barrow-wight sequence.
The Last Sons of Cardolan unfolds through the tomb circuits. Search each relevant chamber, follow dialogue, and let the final stage update before leaving the region. Do not race through the portal while another co-op player remains at a tomb interaction.
If an Athelas handoff does not appear, read the active objective and inventory before replaying. The problem may be an unregistered plant rather than the return dialogue.
Complete Rivendell work in visit order
On the first Rivendell visit, speak to Frodo for the missable conversation and deliver the Tome to Elrond for Seer’s Words. Speak to Bilbo for The Poet and visit Arwen. Accept Miruvor, which the current route lists as five Miriloth, two Gilivor, and honey.
Collect the ingredients through Coldfells and associated travel, keeping them separate from general potion crafting. Return to Rivendell and complete Miruvor through the correct dialogue. Accept Truesilver before Mount Gundabad, then use Farin to reach the Mithril chest behind the cracked cave wall. Deliver Mithril to Arwen and speak to Angmir to finish the chain.
Cult of the Lidless Eye has its own hard deadline. Gather seven scrolls and return them all to Elrond before starting Siege of Nordinbad.
Close Nordinbad and Mirkwood threads
At Nordinbad, speak to Gorin and Galar and finish Gorin’s Gratitude, including the offered reward decision. Confirm the quest result before selecting Mirkwood.
In Woodland Marshes, keep right after the first group and checkpoint, follow tracks through water to the hidden orc camp, free Glorihirin, and speak to him. After the Mirkwood story route, speak to Glorihirin again for the reward and completion. This second dialogue matters for the missable story objective.
Recover Radagast’s staff during Web-shrouded Woods and let the associated quest state complete. Quest items left on the battlefield do not count because the boss or wave ended.
Verify the fifteen-quest target
Use the quest log and Steam achievement state, not a handwritten title count alone. Current completion evidence associates fifteen completed quests with Friend of the Woodland Realm. Some story-adjacent interactions may not be standard log entries, so count only confirmed completions.
In co-op, guest progress can differ from the host’s dialogue authority. Have each player inspect their own state after a handoff. If credit differs, record host role and replay through normal campaign flow rather than modifying saves.
