The Cult of the Lidless Eye quest in The Lord of the Rings: War in the North™ - Legacy Edition spans seven campaign regions. Collect each scroll, record the region, verify the live quest count, and return the complete collection to Elrond in Rivendell before Siege. The route below applies to Steam AppID 2523770 and omits invented coordinates where current evidence supports only an enemy or chest source.
Begin the trail on the Fornost Battlements
Prepare in Bree, then clear Fornost without rushing through the Battlements. Current Legacy Edition routing places the first scroll on a sorcerer there. Defeat the target, inspect the dropped loot, and open the quest or inventory state before moving on. The enemy’s death alone is not proof that the scroll entered the save.
Use available war machines while their lanes are active, but do not let the mounted sequence pull attention away from the sorcerer pickup. In co-op, tell the group that one player is checking the drop while the others secure the area. Cross the next checkpoint only after confirming the first regional entry.
Record “Fornost Battlements — sorcerer — confirmed” rather than only writing 1/7. A regional note makes later diagnosis possible if the displayed total does not match expectations.
Inspect Coldfells and High Moors sources
The second scroll is associated with a gilded chest in the Coldfells. Explore the relevant branch before leaving the region, open the chest, and inspect the acquired item. A chest that was seen but never opened should not be marked complete.
The third comes from a sorcerer in the High Moors. Clear nearby pressure so the loot can be checked safely. If several enemies drop items, read each pickup rather than assuming the brightest object is the quest piece.
At the next hub, compare the live count with the regional record. Do not sell unfamiliar quest-marked items or change inventory files. If one is absent, return through normal campaign travel while the area remains available.
Search Mount Gundabad and Mirkwood carefully
The fourth scroll is in a chest within Mount Gundabad’s interior. The current evidence establishes the region and source type, not a reliable turn-by-turn coordinate for this public build. Search optional rooms before crossing the chapter’s final transition, and confirm the pickup in the quest state.
The fifth is tied to Wulfrun in Mirkwood’s Shadowed Paths. Loot the named enemy after the fight and allow any objective update to finish. Keep companions close during exploration; splitting the group can trigger another encounter while someone is reading the drop.
These middle entries are where a vague count becomes risky. Maintain the location-by-location note and capture the quest log at a stable checkpoint. A screenshot is safer and clearer than experimenting with a save to discover which flag is missing.
Complete the Grey Mountains and Carn Dûm entries
The sixth scroll is associated with a dead sorcerer in the Grey Mountains. Inspect the body or interaction directly. Because the source is already dead, waiting for a combat drop may cause players to walk past it. Search deliberately before leaving the local route.
The seventh comes from a captain in Carn Dûm. Defeat the target, check the loot, and verify the full collection before committing to the next major transition. Do not let a crowded fight or quick co-op travel prompt skip the inspection.
Once all seven regions are marked and the live state agrees, preserve the save through a normal checkpoint and exit. The collection is not finished merely because all items were found; the Elrond return remains essential.
Return the collection before Siege
Travel to Rivendell and speak with Elrond while the turn-in is available. Current AppID 2523770 routing specifically warns to return all seven scrolls before Siege. Finish the dialogue, wait for the quest result, and confirm any associated achievement or reward state before selecting the next destination.
In co-op, regroup before the conversation. Avoid a guest disconnect or host travel action while the hand-in is processing. Each participant should inspect their relevant achievement and campaign state rather than assuming the host’s notification proves universal credit.
If Elrond does not accept the collection, compare the live count with all seven regional records. Revisit the single uncertain entry through normal game options. Do not import AppID 32800 data or edit a quest flag based on an older guide.
Troubleshoot a missing scroll without risking the save
Read the objective, count confirmed entries, and identify the first region without direct pickup confirmation. Restart the game cleanly and return from a normal checkpoint if that region remains accessible. Repeat only the chest, body, or enemy-loot interaction involved.
For a persistent problem, record AppID 2523770, chapter, exact objective wording, host or guest role, public-branch date, and the last successful pickup. Legacy Edition has no public semantic version, so do not invent one in a support report. Aspyr support can act on repeatable steps more readily than a modified save.
Use the Fornost walkthrough for the first entry’s surrounding chapter, and return to the Quests hub for town, conversation, and co-op tracking habits.
