This walkthrough hub covers the AppID 2523770 campaign of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North™ - Legacy Edition. Use it to preserve optional quests, seven Cult of the Lidless Eye scrolls, secrets, Beleram opportunities, difficulty progress, and achievement counters while the northern fellowship advances from Bree toward Carn Dûm. It avoids treating the campaign like a free-roaming checklist that can always be repaired after the finale.

At every town

Speak to named NPCs, accept or turn in work, inspect merchants, review all three heroes, and read the quest log before travel.

Inside every chapter

Clear branches before the obvious exit, inspect Eradan trails and breakable routes, record collectibles, and confirm checkpoints.

Before major transitions

Finish time-sensitive conversations, return collected scrolls when instructed, and capture Gameplay Stats for the current cycle.

At the final approach

Keep Beleram restrictions and last-battle choices in mind; do not assume a missed objective remains available after Siege.

Prepare the northern fellowship in Bree

Bree establishes the routine used throughout the campaign. Speak with the residents offering Forewarned is Forearmed, Rowlie’s Gift, and Otto’s Arsenal before committing to Fornost. Read the quest log after each conversation so the objective and reward path are visible. Inspect merchants with Eradan, Andriel, and Farin rather than buying only for the controlled hero.

Choose difficulty with the full run in mind. Current Legacy Edition community routing describes Normal, Heroic, and Legendary as a campaign sequence on one save, with later runs retaining progression, but confirm the live difficulty screen and save behavior before planning a multi-cycle completion. Easy should not be selected under the assumption that every campaign achievement behaves identically.

Set controls and camera before leaving town. Legacy Edition supports full controller input, and the listing recommends a gamepad, but a known keyboard and mouse configuration is equally important for precise targeting. Fix prompts or doubled inputs before they become confused with a checkpoint or co-op problem.

Establish exploration habits at Fornost

Fornost is the pilot chapter because it combines side rooms, an Eradan trail, a secret tunnel, a gilded chest, Beleram, war machines, and the first Lidless Eye scroll. At Main Gate, explore the right-side space and use Eradan’s investigative interaction before following the most direct objective route. Check the underground branch and free Beleram when the story presents the opportunity.

On the Battlements, use war machines while their target lanes are available, then loot the sorcerer associated with the first Cult of the Lidless Eye scroll. Do not assume the collectible registers merely because the enemy died; inspect the drop and quest state. Preserve health and resources before leaving a mounted position, since surviving enemies can pressure the party during the transition.

At Outer Wards, inspect the left fork and optional chest route before committing forward. The citadel confrontation with Tharzog tests whether the party can protect ranged and support roles without overextending. The Fornost walkthrough expands this chapter with a checkpoint-oriented path.

Carry the checklist through the middle chapters

After Fornost, continue tracking side conversations, secrets, and the active scroll quest rather than relying on memory. The current seven-scroll route places later pieces across the Coldfells, High Moors, Mount Gundabad’s interior, Mirkwood’s Shadowed Paths, the Grey Mountains, and Carn Dûm. Names identify where to be alert; the live quest log and item pickup confirm whether this save has the piece.

At each stable hub, compare the collectible count with the route, turn in completed work, and update equipment. Preserve named set armor by hero and slot. Check Gameplay Stats for secrets, kills, headshots, Beleram summons, potions, war-machine kills, and quests when those objectives matter. A screenshot at the hub gives a recoverable record without changing game files.

Avoid rushing through a destination because its main objective marker is clear. Explore side branches while the local encounter state is active, then return to the obvious path. If a gate or transition prompt sounds final, stop and inspect the log first. This is especially important for a route whose optional work must be returned to Rivendell before Siege.

Treat boss routes as resource plans

Enter a boss encounter with equipment checked, consumables understood, and each hero’s emergency response available. Identify whether the immediate failure comes from an add, a ranged hazard, a missed dodge, a revive attempt, or resource exhaustion. Change the responsible layer rather than replacing the entire build after one attempt.

In solo play, hot-swap for a visible tactical need. Eradan answers a distant threat, Andriel stabilizes health or groups, and Farin holds dangerous close contact. Move the current hero out of immediate danger before handing control to the AI. In co-op, name the revive and priority-target responsibility before the next pull.

Do not spend every healing or resource item early merely because a checkpoint is nearby. Learn which phase demands recovery and preserve enough to reach it. If an attempt reveals new mechanics, use the next run to verify one response rather than racing the damage clock.

Protect missable achievement conditions

Current AppID 2523770 completion routing warns about several conditions worth handling before late transitions: speak with Frodo and Glorihirin when their opportunities are active, collect and return all seven Cult of the Lidless Eye scrolls to Elrond before Siege, and avoid summoning Beleram during the final Agandaûr fight when pursuing Eagle Savior. Check the current achievement wording in Steam and the in-game state before committing.

Strength of Our Alliance requires a three-human coordinated kill according to the current route, so plan it in a full online or local fellowship rather than expecting AI actions to satisfy the condition. Well-arrayed needs a complete matching six-piece armor set on one hero. These objectives depend on preparation across chapters, not a single last-minute action.

Difficulty achievements should be planned around one verified save. Do not overwrite, import, or move retired AppID 32800 data into the Legacy Edition location. Use normal checkpoints and Steam Cloud cautiously, and run a simple persistence test before a long cooperative campaign.

Finish, review, and begin another cycle deliberately

Before the final approach, resolve active turn-ins that the route marks as time-sensitive, inspect every hero, and capture the current statistics. Verify that the Lidless Eye work was returned to Elrond before Siege. If pursuing Eagle Savior, make the Beleram restriction clear to every player before the final Agandaûr fight.

After credits, inspect the game’s own Continue, difficulty, and carryover options. Do not assume a new campaign slot or difficulty selection preserves the same fields just because an older guide says it did. Make one normal backup only through a documented, reversible method if needed; never experiment while Steam is actively synchronizing.

The remaining individual chapter pages are outside this source-locale pilot. Use this hub as a planning spine, not as invented step-by-step detail for chapters not yet authored. The Quests hub covers quest tracking, while the Achievements hub turns the cross-campaign conditions into a separate checklist.
