Sarn Ford
Speak to Silanna, accept the Athelas request, inspect merchants, and enter the route with recovery available.
Open downs
Take the short right detour, gather the first Athelas on the left, and inspect the marked rock after the troll trail.
Tomb approach
Finish the Cardolan tomb circuits, then search the shrine-and-heaps branch and the first chamber pillar.
Final mechanic
Damage Kilaran while he shares the barrier side with the Lord; clear summons when that alignment is lost.
Prepare at Sarn Ford
Find Silanna and accept the Athelas request before selecting the Barrow-downs route. Check the quest log for the active wording. Buy or equip recovery supplies, distribute armor across all three heroes, and keep enough inventory room for quest pickups and named gear.
If playing co-op, confirm the host and guest quest states before departure. A participant who joins after an interaction should read their own log instead of assuming the host’s marker proves shared credit. Let the travel checkpoint finish normally.
The first Athelas plant identified by the current completion route sits on the left during the early downs. Interact and confirm it registers. Do not confuse nearby foliage with the quest pickup.
Sweep the fog route in order
Early in the route, take a short right detour near the threshold to locate the discovery counted as secret 9 in the campaign-wide sequence. Return to the main line rather than pushing through unknown terrain. A later marked rock on the right contains secret 10; inspect the surface until the interaction confirms.
After the fog valley and troll-footprint sequence, look to the right for another marked rock. This is the route’s secret 11. Clear enemies first so the fellowship does not split while one player studies the wall.
Tracks and marked surfaces are interaction cues, not decorations. If a discovery does not update, reposition, switch to the hero implied by the clue, and recheck after combat state ends. Record which discovery registered before entering the tomb areas.
Complete the Cardolan tomb work
Follow the tomb circuits for The Last Sons of Cardolan instead of rushing directly to the exit. Search chambers after clearing each wave, open confirmed loot, and allow quest dialogue to finish. Avoid pulling an adjacent group while a companion remains behind at an interaction.
After the glade portal, the story path continues left. Before taking it, go right past the shrines and heaps. On the hilltop, inspect the marked rock on the right for secret 12. Then return to the left route without dropping into an unreviewed transition.
Inside Barrow Amon Gorthad, search beside the pillar in the first chest area for secret 13. Collect the key and proceed to Kilaran only when the fellowship is healed and the inventory interaction has completed.
Solve Kilaran and the Barrow-wight Lord
The barrier links the encounter. When Kilaran and the Barrow-wight Lord occupy the same side, damaging Kilaran transfers damage to the Lord. Watch position before committing powerful skills. Attacking the wrong target or wrong side wastes resources and extends the summon pressure.
When Kilaran is beside the boss or the alignment is unfavorable, clear summoned enemies and protect the support lane. Keep enough space to read sweeping attacks and ground effects. Farin can contain close bodies, Eradan can remove dangerous distance, and Andriel can stabilize the group during a transition.
In co-op, call “linked” only after visually confirming the shared side. Name one player to manage adds so the others do not all chase Kilaran while the arena fills. Revive after clearing the covering threat, not in the center of an active pattern.
Return the Athelas and verify the chapter
After the boss and checkpoint, return to Sarn Ford through normal travel. Speak to Silanna and complete the Athelas handoff. Confirm The Last Sons of Cardolan and any associated log stages before leaving the hub.
